Apple released a page for its repair service program on November 1, stating that there is a problem with the rear camera of the iPhone 14 Plus. Since a small number of iPhone 14 Plus models may not display a preview of the rear camera, Apple will repair the affected models free of charge.

This issue has been confirmed in devices manufactured between April 10, 2023 and April 28, 2024, and Apple is urging those who have an iPhone 14 Plus that has this issue to enter their iPhone’s serial number in the box below to find out if it’s eligible for the program.

If your iPhone is found to be eligible for this program after entering the serial number, you can receive free repair service through an Apple Authorized Service Provider, an Apple Store, or Apple Support. However, if there is damage that would prevent repair, such as a cracked back glass, that will need to be repaired first, and in some cases a separate repair fee will be charged.

As a thing to do before repair, Apple lists “backing up your iPhone data to iCloud or PC.” Here are four things you should do before repair:

Turn off Apple Cash: Open the Settings app, scroll down and tap Wallet & Apple Pay. Then turn off Apple Cash.

Remove a card or pass from Apple Wallet: Open the Wallet app, select the card or pass, tap the “More” button, tap “Card Details” (or “Pass Details”), then tap “Remove Card” (or “Remove Pass”)

Turn off Find My Go to Settings > Username > Find My > Find My > Devices. If you can’t turn off Find My on your iPhone this way, go to the Find My app or iCloud.com/find, select your current iPhone, and then select Forget this Device.
