In iOS 18, you can now use the “Slide to Type” feature on the Japanese romaji keyboard. This article will explain how to use this feature.
What is “trace input”?
In the first place, tracing input is a standard input style for English keyboards. This in itself is not unusual, and there are probably a certain number of people who already use it on English keyboards.
The specific input method is not to tap one character to select it, but to tap the first character and then, without lifting your finger, move your finger to the next character and the next character. Even without lifting your finger, the speed and direction change as you move from character to character, and the character that is guessed based on that is input.
