The Notes app in iOS 18 adds features such as making notes with lots of information easier to read and allowing you to write calculations by hand. In this article, we will introduce how to use these new features.

(1) Use heading folds

In the editor within the Notes app, you can now select a format such as “heading” or “subheading” when changing the format of text. In iOS 18, when you select a heading or subheading, you can now collapse the block that follows it as needed.

For example, when taking notes during a lecture or seminar, when you write long notes, you can easily view them by switching the content on and off for each block.

To do this, move the cursor to the text you’ve written in the memo app, tap the “+” icon at the top of the software keyboard, and select a format such as “Headline” from the list of formats. Next, tap the “V” mark that appears on the left side of the text that reflects that format to collapse the block of text that continues to the next heading.

Tap the “V” at the beginning of the heading (image on the left). The text up to the next heading is collapsed and hidden (image on the right).

Even if you don’t normally use headings, it seems like it would be useful to try them out when creating long notes.
