In iOS 18, the Calendar app also received a feature update. There are two changes to keep in mind: (1) a new display style and (2) the ability to register and manage reminders from within the Calendar app. These changes are hard to notice if you use the Calendar app without realizing it, so we’ll introduce the overview of both features and how to use them.

New Visual Styles

The iOS Calendar app allows you to switch between monthly and daily views. In iOS 18, the number of options has increased, with four options available for monthly view: compact, stacked, detailed, and list, and three options available for daily view: single day, multi-day, and list.

Tap the icon on the top right bar on the monthly calendar (image = left). You can switch between “compact”, “stack”, “details” and “list” (image = right)

When “Compact” is selected (image = left) and when “Stack” is selected (image = right)

When “Details” is selected (image on the left) and when “List” is selected (image on the right)

For example, in the “compact” monthly view, the details of the recorded events are not displayed, but the dates for 1.5 months can be viewed at a glance. This is ideal if you are not expecting to check the details of the events in the monthly view in the first place.

In the day view, you can now select “multiple days,” which displays the events for the next day of a specified date side by side. In addition to being able to see a schedule for two days at a time, another benefit is that you can easily drag and drop registered events when rescheduling.

Tap the icon in the upper right corner of the weekly calendar (image on the left) to switch between “single day,” “multiple days,” and “list” (image on the right).
