On July 22nd, Navitime Japan added a “shade-priority route” to the “walking route” feature of its walking app “ALKOO by NAVITIME.”

The walking route is a function that suggests a route from your current location to the surrounding area according to the number of steps you want to walk and return to the same place. It is designed to avoid walking the same route as much as possible each time you search.
With this, you can search for recommended routes, shady roads, and routes that go through covered arcades with just one search. You can also check the “shade rate” of the route (how much shade you will pass through) and the location of the shaded areas on the map. Shade-priority routes are displayed from 6:30 to 17:30. Use this to prevent heatstroke.
